How much can you deduct for your car?
Auto donations are tax deductible and will benefit each donor differently.
If you itemize your tax deductions, you may write-off the market value of this donation up to $500 with the initial receipt we will give you.
If your donated vehicle sells for over $500, and our records show you intend to itemize your deductions, you will receive a supplemental receipt showing the gross proceeds of the sale and you will be required to file IRS form 8283.
If your vehicle sells for over 5,000 the charity is required to file IRS form 8282 and will contact you to review all other federal requirements.
Please check with your tax advisor to see how this tax deduction will best benefit you.

What does Chabad do with your vehicle?
Your vehicle will either be sold at auction or for parts depending on
its condition. Some of the vehicles we receive are transferred directly to needy families who can use them. Any proceeds from the cars will help support the social services provided by the Chabad Jewish Center that in turn help the young and old in our community in a non discriminatory manner.
The following is a list of the Social Services we provide to all members of the Cape Cod community regardless of race, color, or creed:
The Chessed Charitable Fund
An emergency fund that assists members of the Cape Cod community who need help with a month of rent, a payment on their car, utility bills, and food or clothing for their family.
Meals for the elderly and infirm
On Friday afternoon, before the weekend, chicken soup is distributed to many elderly people. Your donation will help us expand our kitchen facility so we can provide a Kosher meals on wheels service for the homebound and on-site meals for those who can commute.
Summer Camp Scholarships
Summer is a wonderful time for children to get out of the house, go to camp and enjoy the outdoors. What about parents who can't afford to send their children to Camp? Chabad of Cape Cod's summer camp, Camp Gan Israel, provides scholarships for children who would otherwise be unable to attend such a camp. Every summer, we give children from all denominations six weeks of fun and excitement at our day camp.
Hospital and Nursing Home Visitations
We bring cheer and moral support to the elderly and infirm through our regular visits to Cape Cod Hospital and Retirement Homes.
